The Shelter Mapping Team (see Gimme Shelter! Video) met with award-winning architect Ian McChesney at the Gala on Monday. He is known partly for designing stunning site-responsive shelters, pavilions and bandstands and won the RIBA competition a couple of years ago to design Durham’s new bandstand. He talked the Shelter Team through the way he develops his ideas by drawing and model-making, and how the designs then get made in real life…the Shelter Team was inspired to get modeling and mapping right away!
