Let's go disorienteering...

- Can a map disorientate you?

- What is it to be lost in a place?

- How can the very familiar become disorientating when looked at in a new way?

- How can we reveal the ‘hidden layer’ of potential meanings locked up in space?

- How can some of the more secretive activities that go on in a park be celebrated?

- We orient ourselves using very familiar tried and tested reference points – what if we change these?

- Can we create a map that confuses, excites or even disturbs someone’s experience of the park?

These are some of the central questions of the disorienteering mapping project. Our aim is to get a number of local people who live in the park to conduct a series of activities that helps them/us explore waht some of the hiiden meanings of the park might be for them. Our aim is to create a map which exposes a very different view of the Necklace Park.

Some of the activities we are currently thinking about are - getting people to explore areas where they might do something secretive and capture them using photos, drawings, sound recordings etc. Or getting people to carry out unusual activities in the park...

If you have any comments on the questions posed above - or any ideas for the kinds of hidden meanings or secret activities that might go on in the park then please do psot comments.

Also, if you are someone who would like to be one of our 'mappers' or know soomeone who might be interested then please get in touch....
